Living Hotel Kaiser Franz Joseph

My girlfriend and I booked this hotel because we were planning a week's vacation in Vienna. The hotel is located in the Oberdöbling district, which is similar to the Munich district of Bogenhausen (for those who know it 😅). So, it's very quiet and relaxed, even during the day. And no strange people. A tram (with a transfer at Schottentor) and a suburban train (S-Bahn) (towards Ottakring -> from there, take the subway to Karlsplatz and/or Neubaugasse) lead to Vienna's city center. It's worth noting that the infrastructure here is significantly better with the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB), and Deutsche Bahn (DB) could learn a thing or two. 🙏 S-Bahn trains run every 10 minutes, subways every 2-4 minutes, and trams about every 5 minutes. And all of this (almost) without delay. I can't comment on the buses yet, as we didn't use them. It's highly recommended to book a weekly ticket (for about €25) at Vienna's main train station. This gives you excellent coverage of the entire city without any additional costs. The apartment was well-furnished. Three small trash cans were provided. The kitchenette was well-equipped (including cutlery, a microwave, and a kettle), and housekeeping came daily for cleaning. Instant coffee, tea, and sugar were replenished daily, as was the minibar. All towels were also changed. The balcony was lovely (with two chairs and a table with an ashtray for smokers). There was also air conditioning. And the bathroom with a shower was very nice. 👌 Each apartment also has a small refrigerator with a freezer compartment. This means you can prepare your own meals during your stay and aren't dependent on the optional breakfast. It's worth noting that you can book this option at any time if you change your mind. However, you can always add breakfast if you change your mind. In this case, there's a Billa (similar to Rewe/Edeka) and a Spar (similar to Norma/Penny) on either side of the hotel. And if that's not enough, there's a Hofer (aka Aldi) on the next street. So, if you're self-catering, you shouldn't lack anything. And for fast-food lovers, there's a McDonald's just around the corner. 👍 I also thought it was great that there's a spa area and a fitness area (both in the basement). However, the fitness area only has dumbbells up to 15 kg. There's even a bar in the lounge that's open every evening, with plenty of seating. And if you have excess trash from shopping (too many paper bags, for example), you can leave it at the designated spot at the bottom of each floor by the stairs, and it will be disposed of. There's also another option in the basement (near the underground parking garage). And Vienna's Karlsplatz is brimming with shopping opportunities. H&M, Douglas, Zara, New Yorker, TK Maxx, Michael Kors, Action, Nanu-Nana, and many more (including Clever Fit for fitness enthusiasts). I highly recommend this hotel. I'll definitely book it again for my next vacation. 🙂

A lovely old hotel with friendly staff and nice rooms. The beds are comfortable and everything is clean. The underground parking garage is separate and secured by a gate. I would gladly return.

This is a great hotel. We loved the breakfast. The staff are always happy to help if you bring up any concerns. My family would love to revisit this hotel.
