Hotel La Perla León

A comfortable stay in an historic building. We stayed 3 nights in twin bedded room Verso on the first floor in the historic building. Relatively large room with comfortable beds, good airco and a sitting area on a kind of veranda near the room. The disadvantage that the room has only a small window in the bathroom has the advantage that the room was quiet, no traffic sounds. We liked it as the front side of the hotel faces a one lane street with quite a lot of traffic. Very nice building and a beautiful courtyard. We liked the breakfast served by a very good English speaking and friendly employee very much. The transfer by private car to Granada was well arranged.

My experience at this hotel was very disappointing due to the treatment we received from the front desk staff, specifically a person named Donald. From the moment we arrived, his attitude was unpleasant. He appeared to be in a bad mood, was unprofessional, and showed little interest in providing good customer service. His way of communicating with guests was uncomfortable and not welcoming. I have informed us that we needed to leave a $100 deposit, which I understand is a normal practice in many hotels. However, what caught my attention was how repeatedly I have emphasized that any stains on the bed sheets or pillows could result in losing the deposit. This seemed unusual to me. When we entered the room, the first thing I noticed was that the bed sheets were already stained. Because of Donald's earlier insistence about stains, I decided to record a video to document the condition of the room at the moment we received it. I immediately went back to the front desk to inform him about the situation. His reaction clearly showed discomfort when we told him that the sheets were already stained before we used the room. His attitude changed noticeably, which made us feel uneasy about the situation. Originally, we planned to stay for three nights, but due to this experience, we decided to stay only one night and moved to another hotel in León. It's unfortunate because the hotel itself is very beautiful and the facilities are nice. Also, the staff who serve breakfast provide excellent service—they were friendly and professional. Unfortunately, the experience at the front desk completely affected our overall impression of the hotel. The person working at the front desk should understand that they represent the first impression guests receive. Sadly, in this case, it was a very negative experience. The person in charge of the front desk should understand that this is the first impression guests receive of the hotel. Unfortunately, in this case, it was a very unpleasant experience.

It's a real treat to stay in a hotel with so much history; who knows who's walked on the bar tiles, who's had their picture taken by its pristine white columns. Everything is fine, and the price is very reasonable. I suppose it needs a bit of a renovation to remain the best in León. That said, the value for money is excellent.
