Hotel Livemax Asakusa Ekimae

The room is not very clean. There was a lot of dust and spider webs on the walls and in the vents of the ac and bathroom. The bath surround has mold and scum. The bathroom door squeaks. The water pressure is not good. There is unknown dirty stuff on multiple spots on the walls. There is long dark hair on the floor. Attention to details is important. The bed was very firm. The window only opens a small bit and the view is of another building. The door opens to the outside with a balcony. Least importantly, the tv renote didn't work. I would not choose this place again.

This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in in Japan, bar none!!! I strongly advise anyone who can read Chinese not to stay here!!! My family stayed here for a few days during a trip at the end of August 2024. It wasn't cheap; a triple room without breakfast cost 3000-4000 NTD per day, and the room wasn't big either. That's fine. On the second morning, the air conditioner in one of my family's rooms started dripping water. I went to the front desk to report it... The front desk said it was normal and couldn't be fixed, and that it was fine if they didn't fix it. Next, I asked the front desk to help me call a taxi to Ueno. Since there were many family members, we needed three taxis, and only I speak Japanese. I wanted the front desk to help me tell the driver where we wanted to go because I wanted to leave first. Unexpectedly, the front desk gave me a blank sheet of paper and told me to write down the places I wanted to go myself, and then have my family show them to the driver. Fine... no problem. Finally, the day before check-out, when I returned to the hotel, I found one of the room doors open (the housekeeping hadn't closed it after cleaning). I was furious. I went to the front desk to ask what happened, and they told me their cleaning was outsourced and they didn't know the company, so it wasn't their problem! Is that even fair?! What kind of ridiculous answer is that?! I was furious and demanded they call the manager. Finally, I called the manager and yelled at him about everything, demanding an explanation for my checkout the next day. Of course, they wouldn't refund my money or compensate me for anything else. Almost all their front desk staff are Southeast Asian (I only saw one Japanese employee), and the outsourced cleaning company is also Southeast Asian. They're absolutely awful!! Submitting a complaint to the authorities is like throwing a stone into the ocean... It's a total disaster! Never stay here!

We booked the hotel just the day before, and specifically requested a twin room. The hotel is very close to Asakusa Station and also very close to the elevator entrance of Asakusa A2b (you can see it if you walk straight towards Senso-ji Temple). The room is not large (as is not unusual in Japan), but it has all the necessary amenities such as bath towels, toothbrushes, razors, and shower gel. The room is clean, and the staff are very helpful. Highly recommended!
