Having visited the Oriental Bar at the Metropole in Venice on February 10th with some friends, we were very shocked by the bartender's behavior. After ordering a few glasses of prosecco, we were surprised to receive a flute only about one-fifth full for €14. The bartender returned to refill our glasses without asking, and we were then shocked to receive a bill for two glasses of prosecco, totaling €28 each, for a barely filled flute. This is thuggish behavior... highway robbery... theft, as the Italians say. A real disgrace for us, as we come to Venice very regularly. Absolutely avoid the Oriental Bar at the Metropole!

We stayed at the Metropole for five nights in December and had bad luck with the weather, but the hotel made up for it wonderfully. Every member of staff is incredibly friendly, helpful, and attentive. The high-quality and stylish furnishings, both in the common areas and our room, transport you back in time in a positive way, with all the comforts of home. The breakfast is also excellent.
