Hotel Midtown Richardson

The hotel is very conveniently located right in the Ximending hotspot, so it’s very central and easy to get around. The only downside is that the bathroom had visible mould, and the carpets could probably do with being replaced or cleaned more regularly. During our stay housekeeping came at 2pm one day and around 6pm the next day which was very inconsistent.

The room is very small

The location is perfect. Right in front of Ximending. We came back from Ximending every night for four nights. We didn't need a view in the room; we just played outside all day and slept at night. As a tourist, we stayed on the first floor, which was convenient for getting in and out. If they gave us a second or third floor, we'd have to keep taking the elevator, but since it's on the first floor, we could just shop, leave our bags in the room, and then go out again. It was perfect. We stayed in a twin room, which was really small, so it was a bit inconvenient to open and organize our suitcases. But I think paying for a larger room would have been better. We took turns opening and organizing our suitcases. One of the two beds was adjacent to the bathroom, and the other had a door right at the foot of the bed. Neither bed was particularly convenient, so we were able to peacefully arrange our beds. The room was small, but the bathroom was quite spacious and had a bathtub. I was surprised. A bathtub in such a small room? While I was there Taiwan is a place where you walk a lot, so I filled the bathtub with water just up to my legs and steamed them. It was great for relieving fatigue, and the water pressure was fantastic. My friend brought a filter showerhead, but the filter got a little dirty, so I washed it thoroughly for four days. For three of the four nights, I slept well without any odor, but for the last two nights, a sewage-like smell emanated from the bathroom, which was difficult. My friend and I aren't particularly sensitive to odors, but the smell persisted, so we considered changing rooms. However, since it was our last day, we decided to endure it and just slept. As part of our eco-friendly policy, water was provided on the first night and we were told to drink from the water purifier. Since our room was right in front of the water purifier, we were able to drink it comfortably, but it would have been a good idea to bring a tumbler. The water purifier also produced hot water, so we enjoyed Manhan Daechan Cup Ramen in the room. Perhaps because we had the cheapest room, there was no table, so we ate on top of our suitcases. As other reviews have mentioned, the soundproofing seems really poor. I'm not sensitive to noise, so I slept well, but my friend said she had a hard time because there was someone in her room yelling and singing in the early hours of the morning. As I mentioned earlier, the room is small, so there's no closet. Hangers are scarce, and towels can only be exchanged one-on-one, which is a bit inconvenient. If you're planning on staying in the hotel's most economical room, it might be helpful to bring something like a portable hanger. Overall, I'm satisfied with the location, but there are a few areas that need improvement, and given the narrowness of the room, I'd have to reconsider staying here again.
