Hotel Mulino di Firenze, WorldHotels Crafted

We were looking for a last-minute holiday in Italy over New Year's. We knew Florence and wanted to go back. We found the hotel through a travel agency, and everything was perfect. Based on reviews on other websites, we booked a room facing the Arno River – and we made the right choice. The staff is fantastic, very friendly, and authentically Italian, and the restaurant is superb! For the "Capodanne 2025" (a local wine tasting), they played great music and served a wonderful menu. Of course, the hotel offers excellent wines. We gladly accepted their friendly recommendation and arrangements to visit a partner winery, which naturally features wines on the restaurant's wine list. The hotel is about 5 km from Florence city center, which we easily covered by car. Tuscany is a wonderful base for exploring – within a 50-70 km radius, you'll find everything worth visiting. Abbiamo trovato the hotel in agency of travel and in the perfect era. If you read the reviews from other portals, you can see a camera “with a view of the Arno” – and you can also see the view. The personal is exceptional, very cordial, authentically Italian, and the restaurant is straight forward. For Capodanno 2025 it is supposed to be music and serve a menu of Meraviglioso. Naturally the structure offers excellent wine. Abbiamo accettato volentieri una gentle raccomandazione and the organization of a visit to a cantina amica, i cui wine sono naturalmente presenti nella carta del ristorante. The distance from Firenze/centro is about 5 km, easy to drive by car. Tuscany is a wonderful part of the region: in a distance of 50-70 km it is worth visiting. The property is truly beautiful. I was immediately struck by the professionalism and kindness with which we were welcomed, which continued throughout our stay. The room was very nice, but attention to detail is needed: in a 4-star hotel, I wouldn't expect to find broken outlets or shower handles. However, in a hotel like this, I would expect soundproofing at least in the rooms facing the street! The spa is acceptable, let's say... since a whirlpool tub or emotional showers are absolutely essential to define a "spa" environment, and unfortunately, they don't have them here. I would suggest removing the single massage table and perhaps organizing couples' massages in another space to take advantage of that space by installing a tub. The herbal tea area is also nice... but here too, a few comments: only two herbal tea bags for two people; adding more choice doesn't cost you anything, and above all, it seems a bit like a B&B to keep things limited. There are no glasses for drinking water, and above all, you have to drink the herbal tea standing up since there's no real relaxation area for guests! With a few small adjustments and a couple of improvements, this place could become one of a kind! Excellent location and view, covered parking available.

Overall, a positive experience, but I don't know if I'd repeat it. For a 4-star superior hotel, I expected a little more. The price was quite unbalanced, the room was very comfortable, and the bed was super comfy. Unfortunately, after the celebrations, I had a nasty surprise: a very heavy wooden door fell on my shin under the bathroom sink, which wasn't pleasant. The front desk intervened promptly, but it wasn't enough, as the same thing happened again this morning. I expected a little more understanding. The spa was comfortable but really small. There were two tea infusions, one of which was empty, and too little water to make a herbal tea. In short, a promising elite service that, however, needs to be revised! There's no gym, but there's plenty of space for a run or a walk. As a Florentine, I can say that the Superior should be a little more "superior." I don't know if I'd recommend it or go back! I'll think about it.
