HOTEL OKADA

Visited with my family in February 2026. Located close to Hakone-Yumoto Station (you can even stroll to the station if you don't mind walking), this long-established inn strikes a perfect balance between convenience and tranquility. While the building itself has a sense of history, it has been renovated in key areas, and as long as you appreciate the old-fashioned feel, you won't be disappointed. The key to enjoying this inn wisely is to approach it with the understanding that it's a large, traditional inn. The biggest advantage is that in addition to the large public bath in the accommodation building, you can also use the day-use hot spring facility, Yunosato Okada. Having multiple options for bathing is great. However, the chlorine smell was quite strong in some areas. I think this inn is more suited to those who prefer a spacious and open atmosphere rather than those who are particularly picky about the quality of the spring water. We opted for the buffet style meal, and the sheer variety of dishes was particularly noteworthy. With a wide selection of Japanese, Western, and Chinese cuisine, there was plenty to choose from. The flavor isn't particularly distinctive, but the quality is commensurate with the price. Overall, I'd describe this as "the ultimate Hakone ryokan." If you're looking for a casual, reasonably priced hot spring experience, and understand the aging of the facilities, this is a very satisfying stay. In that sense, it's no surprise that the hotel has a Google rating of "4.0" as of April 2026.

I booked Hotel Okada hoping to spend a relaxing and enjoyable hot spring stay with my family. Staying at Hotel Okada, I discovered that there are inns where you can fully enjoy Hakone without having to go deep into the area! When I visited Hakone in the past, I found the winding roads a challenge, so I've always preferred driving in the Chiba area to go to hot spring inns. However, in Hotel Okada's area, even though we had to go through some narrow, winding roads, the distance and journey were not at all difficult. ◎ In addition to the hot springs, we also enjoyed the buffet-style meals in the evening and morning, which were perfect for families with children!

It's located deep in the mountains, down a narrow road from Hakone-Yumoto Station. I stayed in a room with a semi-open-air bath. There seemed to be a lot of families with children, probably because there was a dinner buffet option. There was a wide variety of food. On the way back, I took the 200 yen bus back to Hakone-Yumoto Station. It was quite crowded.
