During the Lunar New Year holiday in Taiwan, I stayed at the Hotel Okura Kobe in Kobe Port. My room was on the 23rd floor, overlooking the elevated highway and the harbor, offering views of the sunrise and the arrival and departure of the Shodoshima ferry. The night view was truly beautiful; my family and I slept with the curtains open, enjoying the stunning scenery. The breakfast was great because, in addition to the buffet (with a variety of choices), we could also opt for room service (though the selection was limited). The next day, since we were catching the Shodoshima ferry early, we booked room service for breakfast, enjoying it while watching the sunrise – a truly cool experience. Cars can be rented at the parking tower next to the hotel, which offers a discount coupon for the number of nights spent (1000 yen per day) with unlimited access – very convenient. Becoming a member extends the check-out time to 12:00 PM. At check-in, they inquired about the housekeeping schedule, allowing us to choose a time when they weren't available for cleaning – a thoughtful touch. Overall, the hotel is square-shaped, with different views from each vantage point. While there are better rooms facing Kobe Port, the stay was still fantastic. Highly recommended!

It's conveniently located near Meriken Park and has a shuttle bus from Sannomiya Station, but it's often fully booked even on weekdays, so you might need to line up early to get on. I stayed in a standard room facing the Port Tower, which offered a beautiful night view! It's nice to have a smoking room these days, and the smoking floor seems to be on the 12th floor. It's a high-rise hotel, but if you want to see the night view of Meriken Park, a mid-floor room might be better, offering views of the Port Tower and Ferris wheel at eye level. The hotel itself is old, but the bathroom was renovated and clean, and the room was reasonably spacious and comfortable. Nankinmachi is about a five-minute walk away, and since it's located in Meriken Park, it's convenient for taking a stroll to see the night view after returning to your room. Even though it's a high-rise hotel, it has a spacious lobby, a Japanese garden, and, as you'd expect from the Okura, there's even a convenience store on-site. I'd definitely stay here again when I visit Kobe.
