I was pleasantly surprised to find a room with a balcony – it was perfect! It's close to the old town and also near the pier for ferry services, making it very convenient for sightseeing.

This was by far the worst hotel I have stayed in, despite extensive experience with world-renowned luxury hotels worldwide. Apart from the beautiful entrance, nothing about Hôtel President Wilson reflects five-star standards. The staff were impersonal and unwelcoming. Most shocking was the spa policy: despite the very high room rates, guests are not allowed access to the spa unless they book a treatment. There were no available treatment slots, meaning we had no access to the spa at all. We asked multiple times—there was no misunderstanding. This is unacceptable and something I have never experienced at a five-star hotel. The breakfast buffet was awfully bad, nothing was there, the tables were not done, we asked to be refilled and they did nothing Overall, overpriced, outdated, and not worthy of its reputation.

Great location, but the experience does not justify the pricing. The hotel feels very dated. Our room was hot even with the A/C on full, the TV was old and malfunctioning, and there were no bedside outlets for charging devices. More concerning, the in-room phones throughout the hotel were not working, which is a serious safety issue in case of an emergency. Breakfast is CHF 52 per person and sub-par. We also felt nickel-and-dimed for items most hotels include. Dinner at the bar was about $125 per person with one drink and did not come close to matching the price. I don’t mind paying for quality, but here the value simply isn’t there.
