Let's start with the positives: The hotel is easily accessible, with a tram stop practically right outside. Some might find the decor dated, but I'm a fan and would describe it as classic and warm. The hotel room was also very spacious, and the beds were comfortable. There was a huge selection of delicacies at breakfast (including bubbly), and the bar was very cozy. Now for the negatives: Upon arrival (Boxing Day), the restaurant turned out to be closed due to a daytime celebration. This wasn't mentioned anywhere on the website and was only visible on a sign at reception after arrival. So we had to eat at a nearby restaurant. There were also no coffee or tea facilities in the room, and at 9 p.m.!, we couldn't order hot drinks at the bar because the coffee machine had already been cleaned. When booking, I had indicated that I have a medical need for gluten-free food. At breakfast, I asked for gluten-free bread and, to my surprise, received rolls that looked suspiciously like regular gluten-laden rolls. After repeated inquiries, the staff insisted these were indeed gluten-free rolls. Unfortunately, I experienced severe discomfort the next day, which unfortunately confirmed my suspicion that they were indeed gluten-containing rolls. Mistakes can happen, of course; that's human. But I find it disgraceful that the staff didn't simply admit to the mistake or double-check, as that would have saved me a lot of trouble. All in all, it was an overnight stay we look back on with very mixed feelings.
