Hotel Real Segovia

A perfect stay. The hotel is right in the city center, so you can park and forget about the car; you can walk to all the places of interest. The room was very clean and comfortable, with complimentary water and coffee, and the bed couldn't have been more comfortable. The reception staff were very helpful. The only downside was that the parking lot was full, and we parked in a very expensive parking garage, which they have an agreement with to offer a discount. When we arrived at reception, they told us that all the spaces in their agreement with the garage were full.

The banquet hall is a bit old-fashioned, but the food is good.

Unfortunately, my experience at the Hotel Real Segovia was extremely disappointing and far below expectations, especially considering it was a Christmas Day stay. We left Madrid intending to spend a special occasion in another city and clearly requested a room with a double bed. Upon arrival, we were assigned a room with two single beds that separated at night, making it impossible for my partner and me to sleep together. (And it wasn't just the bed: the bedding was single, there was no double blanket or duvet, and absolutely everything was single-size, making it impossible to even share the bed linens. A couple who booked a double room were treated as two separate guests.) To make matters worse, the sheets were stored in a plastic bag in the wardrobe, with a strong musty and stale smell, which caused me to sneeze constantly throughout the night and completely ruined my sleep. The air conditioning seemed to have been neglected for years, emitting an unpleasant odor and a distinct feeling of stale air, making the stay even more uncomfortable. The following morning, I requested a late check-out, a fairly common practice in the hotel industry, especially when the hotel didn't appear to be full. The response was cold and inflexible: a maximum of 30 minutes, with no empathy or attempt to find a solution. Oddly enough, when I asked about adding another night, they told me it was possible, but without offering any flexibility in the check-out time, demonstrating a complete lack of consistency and sensitivity towards the customer. On a day like Christmas, one would expect at least attention, care, and hospitality—basic values of the industry. What I found was rigidity, disinterest, and an experience I definitely do not recommend. I would not stay at this hotel again.
