Not a place to stay for vacation, they rarely have hot water and heater!

I have traveled to over 30 countries and have stayed everywhere from ritz carleton hotels, to rented apartments, to grimy hostels with communal facilities. Hotel Rousseau was, by far, the worst valued lodging I have ever experienced. For being around 170€/night, I would expect clean facilities, acceptable amenities, and kind staff. Instead, we were met with grime, dirt, and a level of unprofessionalism I have never experienced. The hotel itself is, quite frankly, disgusting. The lobby is small, and the hallways are dirty. I know the hotel has been remodeled recently,so the actual rooms are fine. However, the passing areas have not been touched up so the carpets within the common areas on the floors are vile. Though spacious, our room had many issues. The hot water in the showers did not work so we were forced to take cold showers for 3 days. The heating in our room was on a timer, rather than a temperature gauge. This meant it would run for approximately 5 minutes before shutting off and needing to be manually turned on again. When we alerted hotel staff of the issue they sent someone to attempt to fix it. Upon realizing they could not fix the issue they said “Well, it’s not that cold actually” and never attempted to change our rooms or solve the issue in some other way. I have a personal thermometer and the room never went above 18C. When any issue was made evident to staff, they would get on the phone and start yelling at whoever was on the other side. Of course, this made for a very unpleasant experience and we preferred to avoid saying anything. I also never received our Free Geneva Transport card. The hotel staff said that it was emailed but I did not receive it. I actually pulled up my emails to show them but they continued to insist I had received it. I still haven’t found it to this day. Honestly there was so much more wrong with our stay, but at this point i don’t want to relive any of it. I tried to change the hotel but the reservation was non refundable and I really did not want to waste that much money. Imagine spending so much to take your mom to Geneve only to be met with so much disappointment. At this point I think Hotel Rousseau should transition to a hostel instead. I think it would be much more honest of them instead of continuing ti try to pass this off as a hotel.
