HOTEL ROUTE INN KAKEGAWA INTER

The facilities are the same as other Route Inns, with a large public bath and breakfast, just as you'd expect. The locks weren't card-key type. As the name suggests, the location is right off the interchange, and there's free parking, so it's great for those coming by car. There are convenience stores and family restaurants nearby, so you shouldn't have any trouble. I particularly recommend Sawayaka. The station is within walking distance, but it can be a bit difficult to carry suitcases. (I don't recommend it.) If you're used to walking, I don't think it'll be a problem to get to the station from the hotel.

It's located right off the highway, so it's convenient if you're driving. It's cheaper if you book through the app, and you get coins to use in vending machines for the number of nights you stay. The large communal bath has washing areas for six people, and the bathtub is spacious and comfortable, which is great. The room key doesn't auto-lock (October 2025), so be careful not to forget to lock it. It was also helpful that you could get beer and other gifts if you chose to clean your room in an eco-friendly way.

I stayed here, far from the station, because I wanted to go to Kakegawa Hanatouen Garden first thing in the morning. There's a Shizuoka specialty restaurant called Sawayaka just a two-minute walk away, so I could relax in my hotel room while waiting for my reservation. There's a 7-Eleven next door, so I could get some food and drinks there. Honestly, that's about it, but as a business hotel, it's pretty low-key. Room I was given a key with a non-autolock system, which is rare these days. While this isn't really a problem, I didn't have the same sense of locking the door as I normally do in hotels, and I'd forgotten to lock it when I woke up in the morning... The loungewear provided in the room was very old and worn. I guess they should replace it, right? The bed is a matter of preference, but it was the hardest I've ever stayed in a business hotel. The air conditioning worked well, but the clicking noise it made while it was running bothered me, and it kept me from sleeping very well. Breakfast I was expecting the standard fare at a business hotel buffet, but all I got was: 1. Boiled egg (uncracked), 2. A super-mini omelet, 3. Bacon, 4. French fries, 5. Chicken rings, 6. Mini spring rolls, 7. Stir-fried green peppers with pork, 8. Plain fried noodles that looked like they were made with somen noodles, salad, rice, and a croissant. What...that's it?! Is it really this shabby for weekday breakfasts? Looking at the menu photos from previous guests, it seems like a completely different hotel. There were no filling staples at all... Anyway, the breakfast was the most disappointing thing. If I stay again, I'll definitely choose a hotel near the station. The only thing I'm disappointed about is that Sawayaka will be farther away.
