We were very disappointed with the service at the 5-star Hotel Schweizerhof Luzern. We hadn't expected this at this price point. We were sitting outside on the terrace and repeatedly observed a waitress serving other guests, bringing them drinks, and clearing their tables. Despite this, we were ignored for quite some time. After a very long wait, we finally went inside ourselves to order something, which is very disappointing for a hotel of this caliber. At the bar, I politely asked a staff member if we could order outside. Her response was that they didn't serve outside. We found this statement disconcerting, as we had clearly seen other guests being served outside. When my mother asked why, we were told that the indoor area was full and therefore they weren't serving outside. We found this explanation unprofessional. Although the indoor area was full, the bar isn't very large, and there were only about five staff members present, who didn't seem particularly busy. From our perspective, a better distribution of staff (e.g., three to four people indoors and one to two people outdoors) would have significantly improved the service. Overall, the service unfortunately did not meet the standard one would expect from a renowned 5-star hotel. It's a shame, because the ambiance and location are otherwise very nice.
