Hotel Shinpoin Osaka

The guest room floor was concrete (or something) with a pattern, which might be cool in the middle of summer, but it was more than cool; it felt like I was walking on ice... The cold air was rising up to my knees and hips, and I still feel strange. Even if I turned on the heater, it might be better to turn it up to the highest temperature and leave it on for a few hours to warm the floor, but doing that would make my head hot. From early autumn onwards, I'll probably need to lay down a mat or install a floor heater... Even though I was wearing two pairs of socks, no, three pairs of sturdy shoes, it was so cold that I ended up going out, walking all the way to the station with my laptop, and spending the night in a cafe. It's pointless. Also, even though I selected a non-smoking room, I smelled of cigarettes all day, and when I woke up, my mouth was stinking of second-hand smoke and I felt like throwing up. So the non-smoking rule was a lie. From the beginning of autumn onwards, those who want to stay warm and healthy, and those who want to use a truly non-smoking room, should think carefully about it. I'm still a non-smoker.

This was my second time staying here. Rather than a typical "hotel," it felt more like an apartment building with a concierge. The price was very reasonable, around 30,000 yen for three nights for two people. The room was clean and comfortable. I think the reason for the low price is that most of the facilities are self-service. If you stay multiple nights, you have to pick up towels at the front desk, and air purifiers are not provided in all rooms; they lend them out to those who need them. The air is dry this time of year, so I borrowed an air purifier with a humidifier function. The filter was thoroughly cleaned, so it was very clean and I was able to use it with confidence. I've seen some reviews that say the location is "inconvenient," but this information was available at the time of booking, so I felt it was a bit unreasonable. It's a bit of a walk from the station, but it's located in a quiet, upscale residential area, so it's a very quiet and peaceful environment. The slightly larger premium rooms seem to be a good deal, so I'd like to stay in one of them for a week next time. Please note that there is only parking space for two cars on the premises, and it is limited to compact cars.
