The location is great, and the view of Lion's Rock from the pool is magnificent… Unfortunately, the compliments end there: - We felt like we were bothering the staff every time we asked a question - The bathroom was outdated and smelled of sewage - We had to pay to use the bikes, which were poorly maintained (the gears wouldn't shift) - The worst restaurant we've had in two weeks in Sri Lanka - And yet, the prices were exorbitant compared to other restaurants in town

While the reception staff is friendly and professional, the bar staff don’t speak English well, which caused confusion and resulted in us receiving the wrong food and being not able to explain the alergens. Also, the waiting time is simply unacceptable given we were the only one waiting. Waiters are constantly lying about the delivery time. At least they apologised and didn’t charge for the meal.

Even though we would give this hotel five stars for some aspects, it's still only a three-star hotel for us because the rooms and terraces are really worn and outdated! The rooms desperately need renovation! The rooms themselves are well-maintained, spacious, and the bathroom is good. Unfortunately, there was practically no storage space or drawers. The rooms have a slightly musty smell due to the old air conditioning. The rooms are shabby, and it's clear that they've only ever been painted over. The bed was generously sized, and the mattresses were comfortable and clean. The rest of the hotel grounds are well-maintained and clean, and the pool and garden area are very nice. The breakfast was very good and offered a wide variety of choices. The service was excellent and attentive. I arranged a surprise dinner for my husband's 50th birthday on the raised platform by the pool (for an additional fee), and it was truly excellent. Everything was decorated for his birthday with balloons, and there was a birthday cake and a birthday song sung by the staff. ... The hotel's location is excellent, offering a great view of Lions Rock, and the entire surrounding area, including Lions Rock Park and Pindurangala Rock, can be easily explored on foot.
