Hotel Spa Nau Royal

We only ate lunch at the restaurant, which is excellent.

I almost never write reviews, but I really wish I had read an account like this before choosing the Nau Royal. I saw that the hotel is part of the Roteiro de Charme — a label I usually admire — and that's why I decided to stay there. Unfortunately, it was a mistake and a very poor use of my money. I will not return. The hotel is beautiful at first glance and provides pleasant moments in the outdoor areas, but it is far from justifying the price it charges or delivering the exclusive experience it promises. Negative points (main): • Common areas are beautiful at first glance, but with old, poorly maintained facilities and very questionable taste in the details. They seriously fail in the basics. • Bathrooms in the common areas are in unacceptable condition for this price range: I found cockroaches more than once; an aluminum door that looked like a roadside toilet; holes in the wall next to the toilet; a dirty and poor-quality bathroom mat; and roadside foam soap — totally incompatible with the "L'Occitane Spa" concept. The men's bathroom still had barbershop advertisements stuck to the wall. • I stayed in the hotel's best room, and even so, the experience was disappointing: the TV didn't work well, the bathtub was old and poorly maintained, the shower stall flooded the sink daily, the cushions and sofa were of very poor quality and questionable taste, and the balcony furniture was worn and ugly. The towels were good, but insufficient in quantity, and there was no daily replenishment of amenities (such as cotton – they only provide them once). • The spa follows the same pattern as the rest of the hotel: old and poorly maintained facilities. • Breakfast was only mediocre – worse than hotels and inns that charge half the daily rate. I am gluten intolerant and informed them in advance, and they only provided the gluten-free cake I requested on the first and last days. On the other days, they said that unfortunately it wasn't possible. • The restaurant lacked charm, the atmosphere was ugly, and the food was inconsistent: some dishes were okay, others were far below expectations. Positive points: • The staff is almost entirely polite and attentive – the highlight of the stay. On my way out, they offered me water and a cake that I had praised, which I thought was kind. The night receptionist was especially wonderful. The pool and room towels were of excellent quality. The beach in front is great! Conclusion: This hotel would only make sense if it charged, at most, 30% of the current price. It's not compatible with the Roteiro de Charme standard. I travel a lot and, honestly, it was the worst value for money I've ever paid. 4425 reais per night. Maybe it's worth 1300, being optimistic.

Disappointing. We were ignored on a simple request, room service, because they FORGOT!!!! Sewer smell in the gazebo. Signs of wear and tear in all areas. It's not worth what they charge. Unfortunately.
