Contempt for the customer and an extremely aggressive welcome at the restaurant: Seduced by the descriptions in guidebooks citing this restaurant as an essential Martinique institution, but nonetheless concerned by the criticisms regarding the welcome, the length of the wait, and the quality of the service, we nevertheless decided to make a reservation that same day at Tante Arlette's, arriving at the reception desk at 11:00 AM. We were greeted by a charming young woman who took our name and asked us to return at 12:30 PM, the start of service. We walked along the seafront for over an hour, despite a strong wind, and returned to the restaurant at 12:15 PM, as I was starting to get tired due to mobility issues following a stroke. Upon entering the restaurant, we were approached by a woman (the owner, I presume?) who asked us what we wanted in a rather unfriendly manner. We told her we had a reservation, and she blocked our way, saying that service started at 12:30 (in 15 minutes!). I explained that we didn't want to be served immediately but that I wanted to sit down at our table, as standing was uncomfortable for me (all the tables were ready and set). At that point, this woman told us it was impossible because we had to come back in 15 minutes. I politely repeated that I just wanted to sit down, but she raised her voice, saying, "Don't you understand what I'm saying? Come back at 12:30!" and made an aggressive gesture to chase us out of the restaurant. We obviously left completely stunned and utterly bewildered… This isn't just a case of an unfriendly welcome, slow service, or poor food quality (as mentioned in other reviews), but a complete disregard for the customer and a clear display of aggression and incivility towards us, the "tourists"… This behavior is shameful and totally unacceptable towards polite customers who made only one mistake: arriving 15 minutes early and being refused a table despite our disability and advanced age… We are 73 and 72 years old respectively, and in decades of traveling the world, we have never been treated like this in a restaurant! I'll let you be the judge…

Partly disappointed... The welcome and service were quite good, but the food was a letdown. The Creole blood sausage was tasteless and served cold. As for the lobster, it wasn't cooked up to the standard of the product! This restaurant was recommended to us, but my experience tells me I won't be eating here again, which is a shame...
