Hotel Torre Azul & Spa - Adults Only

My husband and I stayed at this hotel at the end of August for a summer holiday. We booked about two to three months in advance, but the price for a week (6 nights) was very fair. Getting there by bus was generally easy, as there's a bus stop right in front of the hotel entrance. However, if this bus isn't running (which was the case about 95% of the time), you have to walk up a very long and extremely steep path from the beach promenade. On the plus side, there's another bus stop just around the corner from the hotel, from which you can take a bus directly into Palma – a big advantage for tourists. The walk to the beach is also pleasant (about 15 minutes) and passes by many shops, including an Italian restaurant, souvenir shops, bars, and kiosks. Unfortunately, the receptionist spoke very poor English and had a very strong Spanish accent, making communication almost impossible. On an island like Mallorca, which relies heavily on tourism, this could have been better organized and better known. On the positive side, the reception is staffed 24 hours a day and all the employees are very friendly. From the first day, we had no shampoo in the shower, even though the hotel description stated it should be provided. Despite repeatedly pointing this out to reception and the cleaning staff, the problem wasn't resolved before our departure, so we had to buy shampoo ourselves for about €7. The outdoor area with the pool is very nice and pleasant. A big plus is that it's an adults-only hotel, so there are no screaming children, especially in the pool area. You can buy food, drinks, and ice cream in the outdoor area. The food is delicious, the prices are fair, and the staff is friendly. Unfortunately, the pool closes every day at 8 p.m. (sometimes even earlier), which is a shame, as it seemed very cozy in the evenings, and you could certainly have spent a nice evening there with music and a few drinks. The hotel doesn't offer a sea view; instead, it's located right next to a very large hotel, so close that you can see into the rooms across the hall a little too clearly from your room. Breakfast is very varied and delicious. A big plus is that drinks like water, juices, coffee, and tea are unlimited and free. Dinner, on the other hand, felt more like a "leftovers" meal. While there were some fresh dishes, it couldn't compare to breakfast. Additionally, all drinks at dinner had to be paid for separately, which wasn't communicated beforehand and wasn't particularly affordable. The hotel has a large and comfortable spa area. Use of the spa costs €10 per person for two hours. However, during our visit, there was no one there, as the staff member was giving a massage (a sign on the table in the entrance area indicated this). Since massages can last up to 60 minutes and there was no other person available, we would have had to wait a long time. Only after inquiring at reception were we able to pay and use the spa. A notice at the spa reception would have been helpful. For me personally, the biggest drawback was that the walls were so extremely thin and poorly soundproofed that you could hear everything. Every single word of a conversation, a sneeze, every footstep (on the same floor or, especially bad, upstairs), and even the slamming of doors (all the doors in the entire hotel slam incredibly loudly). All of this made sleeping, and especially waking up in the mornings, very difficult. Overall, it was a pleasant stay, but with some shortcomings. The positive and negative aspects were roughly equal. Personally, however, I would not choose to stay at this hotel again.

Small pool, no poolside service. Mold is present in the shower and on the windows in the rooms. Only one elevator is working; it's better to walk up or down the stairs – you could use the waiting time for something else.
