Worse experience. Have a new born and wife pumps. I went first thing and said fridge didn’t work. They said they’d replace , thy lied and I went down multiple times. I woke up to a cock roach on my son’s bed. Terrible stay.

I made a reservation at Howard Johnson by Wyndham Anaheim Hotel via Priceline.com for December 26 - 27, 2025. Prior to travel, we were in Northern California for Christmas. Due to flooding in that time, we were unable to travel to Southern California in time for our reservation. I called Howard Johnson hotel on Christmas. I acknowledged that I had missed the cancellation window required for a full refund, but told them we physically could travel safely in time for our reservation, and requested an exception to cancel with full refund. The hotel verbally told me that they understand, and would provide the refund. I was so relieved and extremely appreciative, especially on Christmas. It gave me every intention to book there again. However, since I booked via third party, I had to call Priceline to initiate the cancellation. Howard Johnson Hotel confirmed multiple times via phone that once Priceline initiated the cancellation, that they would approve it so I could get the refund. After many emails and phone calls with Priceline, I provided all necessary documentation. After two weeks and many hours of emails and calls, Priceline is now telling me that Howard Johnson hotels will not approve my refund. I understand that by contract they don't have to give me a refund. But a company gave me their word multiple times that this would not be an issue. This is a matter of principal, its unfair and bad business. The time I've spent over the holidays to get my money back in far beyond what I have spent monetarily. The customer service from Priceline has been terrible, and for Howard Johnson to now go back on their word is so frustrating. I wouldnt have done all of this work if I got this answer 2 weeks ago. If I would have been told I couldn't cancel, I would have found a way to either get there to use it, or gifted it to a friend who actually needed the room. Instead I've been charged for a room that didn't get used, and spent an insane amount of time dealing with terrible customer service. Nowadays everything has to be in writing, you cant trust peoples word, its sad and unfair.
