Hyatt Place Long Island City/New York City

The location is ideal. Several subway stations are nearby, and you can get to Manhattan very quickly. The rooms are sufficiently spacious and clean. The facilities are good, although showering in a bathtub is no longer very up to date. I was very disappointed with the breakfast. No sliced cheese, no cold cuts, no boiled eggs, no cucumbers or tomatoes. On top of that, only paper plates and disposable cutlery were provided. I have never experienced such a spartan breakfast in 30 years of hotel experience. But perhaps this is standard in the USA.

I stayed at Hyatt Place Long Island City and was disappointed with how a guest property issue was handled. During winter conditions, I went to the front desk to ask for a snow scraper/tool so I could remove snow/ice from my windshield myself. Instead of providing a scraper, I was told that a hotel employee/engineer could assist, and the employee performed the windshield cleaning on hotel property. After that assistance, I noticed scratches on my windshield/film. I did not select or inspect the tool being used, and I was not informed in advance what tool would be used during the cleaning. The follow-up was also frustrating. I began seeking resolution on December 16, 2025, and hotel leadership communication was extremely slow. The hotel’s General Manager did not respond to my follow-up communications in a timely manner, and it took about two weeks to receive a substantive written response from hotel management. When I did receive a denial, the reasoning felt dismissive and shifted responsibility to the guest. The written response included wording along the lines of: “the service should have been declined by you.” To be clear, I wasn’t asking for a large reimbursement. I filed through my auto insurance and requested only reimbursement of my comprehensive deductible, since the issue was discovered immediately after the hotel’s offered assistance. The slow communication made it harder to move forward with repairs and documentation, even though I’m fortunate the damage was not severe. Accidents can happen anywhere, but the delays, lack of helpful engagement from leadership, and the way the concern was handled left a bad impression. I hope the hotel improves its process for assisting guests with personal property and handling follow-ups when an issue is reported.

loved this hotel the breakfast was really good the beds were comfy the hotel is clean and to be honest the location was great and safe!!
