Very friendly and helpful staff. The room was very clean and well-maintained, with daily room service and breakfast included. The buffet was basic, but you can head straight out to enjoy the city. On the downside, the wardrobe was too small for two people staying for a week, especially in winter with coats. Plus, with the ironing board inside, it was impossible to hang clothes—literally six hangers. As an improvement, if the hotel offers a shuttle service, even if it's an external service, they should ensure it's up to standard, as it also reflects on their image.

We booked a room at the Hyatt Place Chelsea for a long weekend after visiting family on Long Island. It was our first time to NYC (other than a quick layover) so I wanted to be somewhere central and the location and the view from our room on the 20th floor did not disappoint! We could see the Empire State building from our bed which was very cool. The room is nice, but very small! The photos on the website are a little misleading, I feel like they took it from the perfect angle to not really show how narrow the room is. That being said it was clean, looked modern, and the bed was comfortable. I did feel slightly disappointed at the size when thinking about how much we were spending, but overall it was worth it. Other than the price, the shower made some weird groaning sounds at times, and the biggest issue with this hotel is the elevator system! I don't know how it would be fixed, but waiting 10+ minutes to catch an elevator down is wild to me. When I didn't have luggage it was faster to walk down the 20 floors than to wait for an elevator. And there was quite the crush of people trying to get an elevator back up to their room after breakfast. The only solution is to try and avoid any timeframe where there is a lot of traffic on the elevators. We didn't interact with the staff much but they were friendly and helpful; the front desk sent up some lotion for me (don't know how long it took as I was out of the room), the bell staff held our luggage on our checkout day, we didn't have any noise issues. Breakfast is mediocre but what I expect from a free buffet. Coffee in the room was terrible but not bad at the buffet.
