Hyatt Ziva Riviera Maya

Very good all inclusive resort for the family. On the water but not a beach resort. Great pools and amazing entertainment options every day. Kids especially enjoyed the aerial acrobats and the nutritionist's games.

We made our reservation in 10/2025 for 1/2026 on the Hyatt site for the Hyatt Ziva Riviera Maya, but discovered when we arrived that the facility was now called the Dreams Puerto Morales! This change in ownership and operator was never communicated to us prior to arrival. The road leading to resort is in terrible shape, with huge deep potholes for at least 1/2 mile. There is absolutely NO BEACH!! The food was generally mundane, although the grounds were well maintained and the staff was quite pleasant. A DJ played extremely loud hip-hop music 11am-5pm daily, so no peace and quiet for sunbathing, etc. The tile in our room & public walkways was very slippery when wet & my wife suffered a severe fall. The HVAC malfunctioned the entire week and would not maintain a stable temperature, so we had to continually turn it on and off manually. The hot water was broken for 1.5 days, and the main elevator did not work one day. The toilet seat in our room was very loose and the dresser drawers tended to fall out. There was inadequate seating for the big Friday evening barbecue. Overall, a very disappointing vacation. We will not be back.

Overall I’m going to give this place 5 stars because the staff DESERVE IT. Give your staff a raise, these guys were phenomenal in all challenges brought their way from managing adults to managing a toddlers tantrums. They are friendly, and helpful. Attentive and remember your toddler and her little quirks and what she likes. Not once did they mom shame for any hangry toddler melt down when her legs decided to melt into the floor and she just could not walk anymore. They have toddler approved music at the pool and the most fantastic pool options for toddlers depending on what your energy needs are as the parent. You need calm and safe, they have the baby pool. You want a little deeper and more involved in the music - they have the toddler pool. Your toddler wants to brave the water slide with you - they have you covered. You want a pool party - my toddler literally screamed while on my shoulders and hands thrown in the air “mom I’m having so much fun” as they played it’s a Barbie life. The ends were comfortable. The pillows sucked. They need some work on their pillows. The location is far from things, they say 25 minutes to everything but the roads are SO TERRIBLE the drives actually take an hour because you have to drive so slow and let others by to get around the massive potholes. Plan ahead to allow twice the time due to the bad roads. The beach is non existent so know that when you book here you are kinda booking a budget hotel and getting great service but are in the middle of no where, pretty isolated and you have to drive a decent distance to beaches which you will see reflects the price in this hotel versus others with beach access. That was something we were willing to give up since it met the toddlers needs. The hotel is beautiful, the layout is great and easy to manage. The place makes it pretty easy to navigate and keep everyone happy. Bring your bug spray - the mosquitos at night are horrendous and you’ll be eaten alive - as long as I applied the bug spray in time, we were okay. (This was January) mosquitos were not an issue during the day. Lastly when booking with amstars excursions bring your print out (or phone screenshot) of what’s included in your booking because as soon as you leave the hotel, the excursion people try to take advantage of you and we were harassed for money. I pushed back and they gave me my money back and apologized. I mentioned it to the staff at the hotel and to ensure it’s followed up with or that others are aware (especially women) do not let some random person try to force you to give them cash for something you’ve already paid for. We specifically did the dolphin encounter and while the trainer was awesome, the gals at checkout try to rob you for things you’ve already paid for and your amstar “bilingual guide” all of the sudden leaves. They have this routine down. I would love to get their routine known so they stop taking advantage of people.
