I Mulini Resort

Let me start by saying that this is the first negative review I've ever written, and I waited three months before sharing it, but I still can't stomach it. I stayed with my family for three nights at this resort: the location is truly magnificent, but otherwise, I struggle to understand how it can be classified as a 4-star. The girls at the front desk were rude and often seemed almost annoyed by any request. The rooms are decent but far from what we expected: sad furnishings, a shower full of ants, and generally poor maintenance. The most disappointing aspect was the food. The menu is poor, insignificant, and the prices are outrageous for what they actually charge. On the first day, at lunch, we asked if we could sit at the first available table, and the very annoyed waiter told us we could sit, but we'd have to wait a long time because he was alone. We decided to wait anyway and order pasta with clams, maybe 50 grams of pasta, which was also raw and had only seven clams. On the second day, we had a seafood salad that, according to the menu, was supposed to contain three types of fish, but it only came with octopus. After sending it back, we were served a dish with fish that smelled terrible and didn't match the menu. Despite having eaten less than a quarter of the dish, both my father's partner and I had terrible stomach aches for the whole day. From the third day, we gave up on it, limiting ourselves to sandwiches (almost decent) and a salad that I prefer not to comment on as it wasn't as complete as the menu. On the last morning, I had a fried egg, but I found myself eating the eggshell too. Luckily, the buffet was well-stocked and the other items were generally good. A terrible experience in every way. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. I only feel sorry for my father, who spent so much money on a truly disappointing stay.

To avoid all the negatives, here's a few positives about the hotel. Most of the staff were friendly and the property is beautiful with a pool. Private parking is available. On the downside: Unfortunately, we didn't get the superior room we booked. We discussed this extensively with the receptionist that evening. To no avail. We couldn't get another room; everything was fully booked. Our room didn't even come close to the design we had booked. Attached is a picture of our bathroom (in yellow) and a photo of the booked room from the website. This is for comparison only, as tastes vary. The staff member then added that we had booked at a cheaper price (a special offer), so it wasn't so bad. Plus, we can now see the sea. This is called early birding, and the booked category shouldn't change. This has never happened to me anywhere in the world before. Sounds very nice, but not when the wind blows every day and the window is poorly insulated, which is a disadvantage. Sleeping without hearing protection was impossible. The walls and floor had stains, which were already old. Therefore, we always wore slippers. The pool was also unusable for five days because of the constant strong wind. It was permitted, but it wasn't comfortable. The hotel isn't to blame for this, but it's no use if you can't use it. You can sometimes hear the neighbors. Yes, it's an older building with charm, but there are ways to fix that a little bit. A panini that's not almost hard would be great at breakfast.

Unique location, well-maintained resort with parking, 3 km from Trapani. The reception and staff were knowledgeable and very courteous, the sea view splendid, the food excellent and varied. The chef and restaurant staff were competent, but the prices for drinks and wines were quite high. The only drawback was the complete lack of a chest of drawers for linens, which we had to store outside on the wet bar. Another very annoying issue was the constant presence of winged ants in the room, which was reported to management but not resolved.
