The apartment isn't in a particularly quiet location, as it faces the main road, which is always busy until late at night. The railway is about 200 meters behind the apartment, and you can hear the train a lot when it passes, especially at night, as you have to sleep with the window open because there's not a breath of air. The wind blows all outside, but I wonder why it doesn't come into the apartment. They provide a fan, which does more harm than good, and at night in the summer it's hell; you sweat just lying still and sleeping. This isn't even hygienic for the mattresses and pillows they use, and it really bothered me when I thought that people before me had slept there and sweated. The garages, one per apartment, are extremely uncomfortable, with pillars on either side of the entrances. Since they aren't numbered, first come, first served, unless there are some crafty people who, when two couples stay in the same apartment, occupy two garages, as happened during our first few days. The furnishings are very minimal; the two people sleeping in the living area have no space to store their clothes, so they leave their suitcases open, leaving the apartment in a complete mess. Since the apartment is quite livable, there are other areas where more furniture could be placed, such as in the hallway, or by adding a chest of drawers in the living area and an extra closet in the bedroom, as the existing one is also a doll's closet, half of which is occupied by the two pillows of the person sleeping on the sofa bed and two quilts for when needed. Luckily, there is a dresser and two bedside tables. Finally, I strongly recommend the owner install at least some air conditioning, because in this apartment, the sauna is used 24/7 in the summer... The beaches are almost nonexistent; forget about the vast beaches of the real Tuscany; if you want them like this, you'll have to drive. The town center is just over 1.5 km away, or a 20-minute walk. Near the apartment, on Via Aurelia, there are four shops and five restaurants; the paved promenade runs along the entire stretch of the city, where you'll find tiny beach clubs (full), bars, and a couple of restaurants. The port area is more interesting. In conclusion, and all things considered, these were NOT the best vacations of our lives! On the contrary...
