ibis Styles Roma Vintage

A wonderful experience for us in Rome for the first time. We stayed in this lovely hotel. Convenient for public transportation. The shopping center is nearby. The breakfast was very good. And Giuseppe was super helpful. His coffee is top-notch and he's very kind and always smiling. Thank you.

We stayed four nights at the Ibis Vintage in Rome. We booked it because it was a four-star hotel and because the price wasn't too expensive for Christmas. The hotel is generally very old and shows a clear lack of maintenance in the common areas. As for our room, the chair was so dirty you couldn't sit on it, the bedside table had a broken leg that would fall over if you put anything on it and would come apart at the slightest touch, and the bathroom door wouldn't close properly. You had to slam it shut so loud the whole hotel could hear it. The hot water, even on the hottest setting, was lukewarm, and the shower was tiny. The double bed we booked was actually two single beds pushed together with a fitted sheet. Luckily, the heating was fine. One night, the window opened by itself, and we almost froze; it was also difficult to close. We booked with breakfast included so we could go out early to explore the city, and it was another disappointment. There was no fresh fruit, a limited selection of cold cuts, and everything was geared towards packaged pastries. Three hotel employees watched as you finished your breakfast, taking it away immediately. We felt a bit overwhelmed by this. One day, we made a ham sandwich to take with us to the Vatican (the line is several hours long since we didn't have tickets), and they told us we couldn't take it with us; no food was allowed to leave the hotel (that's when I understood the fruit policy). Although this is standard practice in hotels, it was the first time we'd been monitored like this. The way they treated their guests was strange. We knew the area was out of the way when we booked, but I wouldn't recommend the neighborhood for families. There's an open-air parking lot across from the hotel full of trash that no one collects. It feels like an industrial area and is difficult to walk around at night. The times we returned late, we didn't feel entirely safe. To get to the metro, you first have to take a bus; however, once you get there, the connections aren't too bad. In short, in Spain this hotel would get 2 stars, and I'm being generous. It was a disaster in almost every way. The only good thing we noticed was the reception staff, who were polite and always willing to help. If you're thinking of booking, close the page.

There is a taxi to the airport that can be arranged and it is attached to a small mall that has always macdonalds and one other restaurant. Its better to do that than have breakfast options at the hotel. Rooms don't have water or coffee facilities, basic but clean
