I’ve just checked out of Hotel Indigo in Newcastle and genuinely had a great stay. The recent renovation to the lobby, bar, and restaurant area is superb , a brilliant setting to relax after work, whether you’re with colleagues or on your own. The bar and restaurant team are a real credit to the brand. They’re full of energy, friendly and make the place feel welcoming from the moment you walk in. The rooms are exactly what you expect from Hotel Indigo: stylish, clean, and comfortable. The car park at the rear and the central location make it ideal for getting around Newcastle too. A couple of points for management to consider: Although the food I had was excellent and prepared to a very high standard, the menu could do with more variety. With chicken being the only main protein option, it might put off guests staying in for dinner more than one night. A broader, more general menu would suit the hotel’s atmosphere much better. I was also made aware by another guest that there is talk of potentially closing the restaurant and letting a number of staff go. That would be a real shame. The team are superb, and losing the restaurant would significantly impact business travellers, not everyone wants to eat out after a long day, especially when travelling alone. Overall, a lovely hotel with great people. I’d absolutely stay again, and I hope the restaurant continues to be part of what makes this place stand out.

Stayed here on New Year’s Eve during the fire incident. The room was pleasant and we enjoyed the initial part of our stay, but the evacuation and the way things were handled afterwards left a bad tone. Safety during the incident was fine, but communication afterwards was very limited and there was no written follow up or explanation for guests once back inside or the entire stay! The main issue was the management response afterwards, which focused on procedures and liability rather than acknowledging the disruption or offering any practical aftercare. I ultimately had to go through IHG corporate and Expedia to resolve things, as dealing directly with the hotel was not helpful. Other reviews from the same night describe similar issues, so it doesn’t seem isolated the way guests felt about the issue. The fire itself wasn’t the hotel’s fault, no one's claiming that, but the aftercare and management tone made the situation more frustrating than it needed to be.
