Inn on Mackinac

Overall we had a wonderful stay but there was one interaction with management that didn’t sit right with me. The fire alarm went off in the middle of the night. We have little children so it was a bit alarming. Eventually it turned off so we walked back to our rooms. A few minutes later it went off again. Some people were really panicking and afraid. We all made our way outside and waited for the fire department to arrive. We were outside maybe 25-30 minutes. As we were told we can go back in, a firefighter told us that someone from inside pulled the fire alarm as a prank and that the police would be conducting an investigation. The next morning after breakfast I saw the same woman from management that was there the night before and I asked her if they had caught the person who pulled the fire alarm. Her response was very short and cold— she said they will not be releasing that information to the public and that they will not be sharing that person’s private information. 😳 What? We were just visitors and i never asked for a specific name because we wouldn’t know who they are anyway. I was just inquiring if they had caught the person who pulled the alarm and had us all standing outside in the middle of the night. It was a very odd response to receive. She was more concerned about the privacy of the perpetrator than of the guests who were woken up in the middle of the night and had to stand outside. A very woke response. I saw the police come later and ask to look at cameras but they left very shortly after. I do not think she was too concerned about helping them especially after my conversation with her.

One of my favorite places to stay on the island! Perfect location with the best staff. The café drinks are amazing too!

The second floor of this inn has a wraparound porch with chairs and tables to relax on. The beds were comfortable.
