Inn on the Alameda

We stayed for a long weekend at the Inn on the Alameda in downtown Santa Fe's historic district. It met and exceeded all of my hopes. Everything about it was perfect for us. It is probably the best located hotel in the city. The hotel is located a 3 block walk from the downtown historic plaza which is full of museums, shopping, and food. It’s also 1 block away from historic canyon road where dozens of artist studios are located in old adobe homes - some of which are hundreds of years old. We booked an adorable casita with a wood fireplace - they supplied the most incredible smelling piñon pine to burn in it. They had the kindest and most delightful staff. Sara ran the included hot breakfast every morning and was wonderful. The red and green chiles (sauces) they served with breakfast were among of our favorites we had on our vacation. They also had Joe's Tequila Bar and Restaurant on site that had great margaritas, over 200 different tequila and mezcal options, and solid New Mexican cuisine. There were also two fireplaces to sit by while eating. They also offered an included shuttle service within a couple miles of the hotel, which covers all the local tourist hotspots. We were able to take it everywhere we wanted to see on our visit (the historic plaza, multiple museums, several restaurants, the historic arts district). Rachel, Jared, and Terry were our shuttle drivers and were so kind and full of great tourist info and suggestions. We met the owner (Joe) who has been operating the hotel for 40 years. He has some staff that have been there almost the entire time. Everyone we met told us they love working there. We also met Penpa their sales and marketing manager who I see interacting with guests online and was really friendly. It was my partner's third time staying there. He has stayed twice previously with a friend. I wasn't sure if I’d enjoy, but I'm so glad I trusted. I'II definitely be back

What a great find! The hotel staff was so friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was quaint Southwestern, rooms impeccably clean, with everything we needed - including robes. Breakfast was very good, fresh and well thought out. We would love to stay here again.

Let’s start with the positive - super friendly staff, the rooms, property and location have a nice southwestern charm. The room and property were very clean. Some of the challenges - the bed was only meh, not the worst I’ve ever slept on but not super comfortable either. Not the most quiet or tranquil experience either. I could easily hear the conversation of pedestrians walking by to and from the restaurant on property. There is no fridge in the room. The Wi-Fi was probably the slowest of any hotel I’ve stayed at. In terms of value, it depends on what you’re looking for. For me, it was a bit of mismatch in expectations. I was hoping for a quiet, tranquil, serene experience to crash in comfort with some nice amenities. I feel like you’re paying more so for the location than anything else. I would have expected a little more for the money and personally would not go back.
