Booked online for a Superior 2 Twin Room (Hot Spring) as I was travelling with a friend who snores at night. However, when we arrived at the room, it was a king bed room. We immediately called the staff. They apologized but said there were no twin rooms with a hot spring available that night, so we either had to stay in the current room or downgrade to a twin room without a private hot spring. What a joke. The hotel is located on a mountain with no public transport access, and my friend and I were worried about our safety if we had to leave and find another hotel in the dark. So we reluctantly accepted the king bed room. Throughout the whole process, the staff did not mention any compensation and only gave us an extra room key as an apology 🙄. Two girls with three room keys — for what? The hot spring in the room was not warm enough during winter, and since it is in an open area, the cold wind blows directly on your face. The public hot springs are also much smaller than those in other hotels we have tried and have no view at all. The service and attitude were not warm or welcoming, which made the experience even more disappointing. Paid AUD $400 for one night, at this price you can definitely find much better hotels in the area.

This is my third Marriott hotel, following hotels in Tokyo and Osaka. My overall impression wasn't bad, but if you go expecting a luxury urban experience, you may be disappointed. More than half of the staff at the front desk are foreigners, likely to accommodate inbound tourists. I'd be happy with this level of Japanese in a hotel overseas, but I'd like them to put in a bit more effort to accommodate Japanese guests in Japan. The facility gave me the impression of a "slightly upscale resort." It's probably due to the original design, so it can't be helped, but some signs of wear are noticeable here and there. I'd like to see a renovation soon. It didn't work for me, but if you go during peak season, I'm not sure whether it's worth the price. I've written a rather harsh review, but while the signs of wear are starting to become more apparent, the hotel is well-kept and has a clean feel. The service level may be disappointing if you're expecting that of a luxury hotel, but there are many excellent staff members, and unless you're someone who really wants to be king or princess, I think it's worth the price. Overall, I recommend this hotel if you can enjoy the facilities at the adjacent La Foret. However, if you go there expecting just the hotel, you will be left feeling noticeably disappointed, so you may want to consider other options.

Located uphill easily accessible by car. The room was spacious with Mt. Fuji view and equipped with private onsen bath. Quiet except the water in the bath was running nonstop throughout the night.
