We stayed at the Mactan Suites with our kids this time. We won't be returning. The kids' pool is great, but the facility as a whole is showing signs of aging. The ocean isn't very large, so it's not something you can enjoy every day. Our room was on the top floor, so there was a problem with the water pressure. Once you flush the toilet, the bathtub never fills up. There's no hot water, either. There aren't many restaurants on site, so three days is probably the limit. As for communication with the hotel, when I requested a restaurant reservation three months in advance, they said it was too early and I should contact them one month in advance. (This was a first for me...!!) When I requested one additional bed, one breakfast is included, and even though I confirmed this with the front desk during my stay, I was charged for breakfast for all days at the end of my stay. When I mentioned this to the front desk, they initially refused, apparently unaware of the situation. They then checked with another staff member and said there was no charge. Don't forget to check your final bill when you stay...

As this is a popular resort with a long history, there are some areas that are a bit outdated, but the service is generally good. However, I'm not sure about the water quality management in the main pool.

Old dated rooms but spacious. Toilet barely worked and faucets were finicky. Broken lamps on the hallways. Staff were not as friendly throughout the resort. Big difference from Shangri-la. Food was mediocre in the breakfast and dinner buffets. Pools were packed and dirty. No beach to enjoy. Would not recommend staying here but maybe a day pass for the kids.
