A "Luxury" Birthday Trip Ruined by Disgusting Negligence My fiancé and I recently stayed at the Kimpton EPIC for two nights to celebrate his birthday, for which I paid a premium price for a room on a top floor. I chose this hotel based on its stellar reviews and its own advertisement as one of the top luxury hotels in Miami. I was prepared to love it. Unfortunately, the hotel’s complete and systemic failure to meet basic standards of cleanliness made this the single worst hotel experience of my life. The TLDR; Our stay involved two separate rooms, both of which were filthy with the previous guests' dirt, hair, and belongings. This review is a warning to anyone considering paying a premium for what is ultimately a dirty and poorly managed hotel. Our first sign of trouble came after we checked in. We had been grateful that the staff accommodated an early check-in, so we quickly dropped our bags and left for the day. When we returned that evening, we discovered that: 1. A pair of canned lights in the room were broken. 2. Even worse, the bathroom had scuff marks all over the floor, dustballs, and a used plastic bag from a previous guest wedged in a corner (see photos) Guest services moved us to a new room one floor up. The gesture was appreciated, but it turned what should have been a relaxed evening into a stressful scramble to repack and move just to make our dinner reservation. As a token apology, we were given a cheap bottle of wine. Later that night, we discovered the new room had faulty buttons and was also dirty. The bathtub was visibly grimy with hair and sediment, and a black bobby pin was lying in plain sight in the light-colored hallway. At this point, we began to question if anything in the room—the bed, the chairs—was actually clean. It was a disgusting and unsettling feeling. The next day, I spoke with the front desk staff to express my profound disappointment. Instead of a refund, I was told that because the room was pre-booked, nothing could be done. They offered a $125 credit for room service or their restaurant. We accepted it, wanting to move on. In a final display of incompetence, the room service staff botched our breakfast order and had to make two separate trips to our room to get it right. The final, horrifying discovery came as we were packing to leave. I noticed a pair of gray socks on the luggage stand in the closet. Thinking, my fiancé forgot to pack them, I grabbed them and pointed them out and to my horror he informed me THEY WEREN'T HIS SOCKS. The cleaning staff had left a previous guest's dirty socks in our closet, and I had just handled them with my bare hands. DISGUSTING! We couldn't get out of this hotel fast enough. The core responsibility of any hotel—especially one marketing itself as "EPIC" luxury—is providing a clean and safe environment. The Kimpton EPIC failed on every level. The repeated and disgusting lapses in basic hygiene, combined with the staff's inadequate response, ruined what was meant to be a special celebration. A nice view doesn't make up for sleeping in someone else's filth. I would only recommend this hotel to someone I truly hated.

I have stayed here twice and both times have been very pleasant for me. The locations, views and staff are all amazing.. and for the rare times I actually do visit Miami, I feel right at home. My favorite part has to be the pool.. I’ve never felt so EPIC swimming inside a pool with the skyline around me. Definitely not the perfect hotel… but one of the best. Thanks guys
