Stunning views, but a massive failure in management and value for money Koh Yao Yai Village is a location with immense potential. The "jungle-meets-sea" aesthetic is beautiful, the views are great, and the rooms themselves are clean and charming. However, for a resort charging €1,000 per night (which only includes breakfast), there is a massive and unacceptable discrepancy between the luxury price tag and the actual guest experience. Dining & Hygiene: The dining experience was highly unprofessional. We were served by a waitress in dirty clothing who had a visible running nose while taking our orders—a major hygiene concern at any price point, let alone a luxury one. The food quality was equally disappointing. The Pad Thai had an off-putting smell, and the "house specialty," the most expensive item on the menu, arrived cold with chewy, overcooked squid. Amenities & Service: We rented bicycles for an island tour, but they were in poor condition. Both tires went flat halfway through our trip. When we contacted the hotel for assistance, they didn't reply for an entire day. When we finally returned to the entrance, the staff was dismissive. The staff member was insistent that I personally return the bike to the drop-off point despite the flat tire, only to then ride it back himself on the flat rim. Environment & Management: Potential guests should be aware of the significant noise from the nearby mosque, which disrupts the "peaceful" atmosphere advertised. Summary: This resort is a case of excellent marketing masking poor management. The staff seem unhappy and potentially underpaid, which reflects in the service. At €1,000 a night with no inclusions other than breakfast, this stay was significantly overpriced and poorly executed. I cannot recommend this location until a serious management overhaul takes place.
