KOKO HOTEL Tsukiji Ginza

It was a big disappointment. It has nothing to do with the 4 stars ratings it proclaims. It was the last hotel we stayed in before leaving Tokyo and sadly it was a let down. - The cleanliness was awful. The toilet seat had urin stains on the seat when we arrived. The shower head had black mold in it. When we informed the reception about it, their initial response was to wait for the next day because the cleaning staff had left for the day. When we insisted to address the issue, they offered us a room that was wreaking of smoke (they were in the process of cleaning it, I guess.) - The king-sized bed was two single beds pushed together & there's barely room to move around the bed. The room layout was bad, there's barely space for any luggage. We didn't even have big suitcases, only 2 backpacks and a small carry-on. - while the breakfast had some variety it was low in quality. Also, it's only open from 7:00-9:30 with 9:00 being last order! - In all the hotels we stayed in Japan, some where rated 3 stars or even lower, there was almost always complementary water and hot drinks. Not in this one though. - the reception staff were rude and not accommodating.

Hotel location is quite decent, just walking distance to ginza. But one front desk people actually was quite pushy and don't have very good attitude when communicating. We wish we could feel more welcome during our stay here🙁

One of the best things about this hotel is the location. It's really close to a lot of amenities. On the other end, our room was not so good. We were in room 809 and there was a rancid smell wafting into of the washroom that forced us to keep the door to that room closed and to use it as sparingly as possible. We told the front desk about it and maintenance staff attempted to address it, but to no avail. A day or so later, the front desk moved us to another room after we requested it and we were relocated to a room two floors down. Overall, the room was better but we noticed that it wasn't thoroughly cleaned as there was a strong urine smell in the toilet room and a spoon left in the closet area. That being said, this room was still better than the last. And the customer service at the front desk was overall not too good. Generally, they seemed disinterested and dismissive when we informed them about the conditions of the room we were initially placed in. This is one reason we didn't inform them about the additional issue of the noisy guests who were staying on our floor. There was only one front desk person who went above and beyond in her customer service. Unfortunately, she wasn't wearing a name tag, so I can't shout her out. The hotel has a place to do laundry, but the drums are really small and your clothes will likey be damp after using the dryer. And there's only two machines, so good luck beating the next person to it. The propery has three elevators and no access to stairwells in the event the elevator traffic is too heavy. If you plan on staying here, give yourself an extra 10 minutes to make it to the lobby during the early part of the day. But yeah, if you're in a pinch and just need somewhere to stay, I suppose this hotel is better than nothing. But I would never stay here again by choice.
