Kookaburra Pension

I stayed here for two nights in March for about 12,000 yen. I arrived a little after 8:00 a.m. and asked if I wanted breakfast, but the receptionist asked if I wanted one and said I could check in at 10:00 a.m., which was really appreciated since I was tired after a long trip. Breakfast was simple but delicious, with vegetables (I was really happy to see plain tomatoes with nothing on them 😭), cheese, eggs, bread, cake?, and some simple side dishes. They also provided coffee, chai, Lipton tea, water, and milk. They also upgraded my room from a single to a double. They provided a bottle of water per day, soap, shampoo, towels, and a hairdryer. The view was amazing, the hotel was close to the shops and bus stop, and the room was clean and warm all day. However, the road to the hotel was closed to cars and had many steps, making it difficult to carry a suitcase. If you can book a hot air balloon tour yourself, it's probably cheaper. I booked a 28-passenger basket tour to Goreme on trip.com for 85 euros. If you introduce it to your brother, it will cost around 100 euros.

The hotel's location is quite convenient and nice. I liked the breakfast; it was sufficient and fresh. The staff at the reception were very helpful, polite, and friendly. The hotel's terrace view was beautiful. The room was a bit cold; it didn't heat up enough because cold air was coming in through the window and door. Although the radiators were working, the air conditioning wasn't functioning. Because we didn't put a "do not disturb" sign on the door, they entered without our permission or knowledge. If I had asked for cleaning, I would have needed to put up a "make up room" sign. Since I didn't put anything up, they shouldn't have done anything. We left in a hurry to go sightseeing, and all our belongings were everywhere. When we entered the room, everything had been gathered and put away. The room was tidy; we were surprised. We informed the reception, and they gave a meaningless, vague explanation like, "There wasn't a sign, we also get caught in the middle, many tourists ask why it wasn't cleaned, so we clean it." Neither the sheets were changed nor the towels replaced; the only thing done was piling all our belongings up. I couldn't say anything to the cleaning lady either, and I didn't escalate things to avoid ruining our vacation; we came here to have a good time. If I didn't ask for a room to be cleaned, if I didn't leave a note saying "clean the room," who has the right to enter my locked, private space? I may not speak English, it may not be my first time staying in a hotel, but they should have informed me, they should have said something like, "If you don't put a warning on your door, we'll barge into your room without notice." It's not something that can be solved by just saying "you didn't put a sign on the door." It was a very unsettling and unpleasant incident. I'm deducting points for this.

The interior of the building is very pretty. The room was in decent condition. However, the bathroom didn't have a separate shower stall and only had a fixed showerhead, which was inconvenient. Towels were constantly refilled, and water was provided upon request. After checking out, I was able to change and shower before taking an overnight bus to another city. There was a bathroom and shower next to the staff room, and they even loaned me a towel. The breakfast was delicious, and the view was beautiful. The male staff member seemed a bit blunt, but he was very accommodating to my requests. You may be awakened by the sound of prayer at 6:30 a.m. Cars cannot enter the hotel, so tour pickup service may be delayed. This is a good accommodation at a reasonable price.
