So happy to spend time at K’s House Hostel the last four nights. It has a cosy lodge vibe and the quirky communal lounge is a perfect space to relax in the evening. The kitchen is well equipped, it even has basic herbs etc provided which I was super thankful for. Everything is spotless and tidy including the onsite onsen! We stayed in a twin room which was a good size and very comfortable. Walkable to rope way although there is also a bus to take you there. On a non skiing day I took the bus down to Higashikawa and explored ‘the town of Photography.’ The staff at K’s house were so welcoming, friendly and very helpful. Particular shout out to Maria who let me help decorate the Christmas tree with her! A really cool wee gem hidden in the mountains. Big thanks.

Decided to treat myself to a hotel room for 2 nights. Ddidn't disappoint. Room size was more than adequate. Wifi was reliable. Room was clean. Dining area has the atmosphere of a lodge and is available to all patrons regardless if they are staying in the hostel or rooms. Kitchen area is large and has a lot of tools for meal preparation and cooking. Also, look for the item exchange at the far end of the dining area to see what guests are leaving behind or if you want to donate something that another guest can use. Location is a short walk to the ropeway that takes you up to the trails (Note- it is possible to walk from the parking lot to the top station, although it will take a substantial amount of time and leave you with less time to walk the various trails higher up). Onsen in the accomodation is also for all guests and was barely utilized throughout my stay, practically having it to myself each time. The onsen is separated for men and women with changing rooms. Onsens of varying temperatures await based on your preference and tolerance level. Be sure to clean yourself before and after using the onsens. Regarding transportation, you can take a public bus from Asahikawa to the hotel, which is frequent and not too expensive given the remoteness and time to reach the destination. Hitchhiking is also possible. Note that food is sold at the Hostel. However, it is best to bring all the food you need for the duration of your stay, especially if you have specific food preferences/restrictions/allergies. Recommend.
