We stayed one night at the Kurhaus Cademario. The location above Lake Lugano remains magnificent – quiet, with a breathtaking view that impresses at any time of day or night. We also really liked the room: quiet, nicely furnished, and with a fantastic view of the lake. The reception was friendly. Unfortunately, the spa area remains the major weak point – and apparently has been for years. Friends stayed here four years ago and had hoped that improvements had been made. This was not the case: The pool water was too cold, as was the room temperature. The whirlpool jets barely worked or only blew cold air. Many mosaic tiles were missing from the pool. The loungers were uncomfortable, very basic, and uninviting. The sauna area was very small with two rather dated saunas. Overall, everything seemed outdated and poorly maintained. On the plus side: The steam room was okay. On sunny days, you can enjoy the beautiful view from outside – this somewhat redeems the overall impression. However, it's not enough for a true spa experience. Breakfast was okay, but nothing special; hot meals cost extra. There's plenty of outdoor parking and a lovely area for walks. In conclusion: The room, the peace and quiet, and the view are excellent. However, the spa area is very disappointing and doesn't live up to the hotel's unique location. With relatively little effort, something truly great could be created here – unfortunately, this potential is currently being wasted. It's nice for one night because of the view, but we wouldn't come back for the spa facilities.
