L'Academie Hotel Lyon

How can I describe our tiny bedroom, where just getting around the bed required establishing a right of way, a minuscule toilet, and no chairs except for two folding ones shamefully hidden behind a thick curtain? Then, instead of the promised wardrobe for hanging or storing our clothes, there were only a few hangers clinging to a ball-shaped hook between the toilet and shower doors. Once our winter coats were hung up, it was best to remove the hangers from the hook before entering the toilet or shower. Plain sheets instead of fitted sheets, unmade after the night, wouldn't have been so much of a problem if the room had been made up… Neither the toilet nor the shower room has ventilation, and the lighting in the shower is practically nonexistent. When we went down to reception, they seemed perfectly normal to them that for two nights and almost €400 in total, we had to leave our clothes in our travel bag, "use our turn signal" to avoid crossing paths around the bed, and there wasn't even anywhere to put a chair. Casually, a young woman from the hotel even asserted that the photo of the room on our booking confirmation—a beautiful, spacious room—was neither contractual nor misleading. I doubt the relevant authorities would agree… Urgently request a photo of the room before booking and think twice before booking at this hotel.

Magnificent hotel, ideally located in Old Lyon, particularly comfortable and refined, with its own traboule (covered passageway), and a wonderful welcome! Truly exceptional!

Everything was great except for the lighting in my very dark room, which overlooks the inner courtyard. A shame.
