It's better to eat breakfast, but... Since you're expected to clean up your own dishes, there's hardly anyone wiping the tables (I was there for about 80 minutes and only saw one table wiped once). The breakfast staff only greets you, and when you speak to them, they respond in broken Japanese, unsmiling, and unfriendly. Most of the breakfast staff are efficient, but it seems like customers have to give way, and they never do so even once. None of the staff at this hotel are skilled at communicating. From the perspective of guests who value customer service and staff, this is boring. They greet you, but other than that, everyone just treats it like a job. Even convenience store clerks are a little more respectable. The staff here probably aren't having fun. I saw about 13 people and spoke to about 10 of them, but I never encountered anyone who genuinely smiled at customers. The place isn't bad, and the service is at a minimum, but I never felt like this hotel was blessed with poor staff.

March 10, 2026 The front desk staff seemed a little unsociable. There was no one to talk to unless the guest was directly in front of them, so there was no one to provide better customer service. The official website mentions a "rooftop garden." I assumed it was on the rooftop, but it's not actually on the rooftop. It's attached to some rooms on the 6th floor. It's confusing. I wonder if going to the rooftop would let me see Nijo Castle. The spacious unit bath is great! I was in a room right next to the elevator, and the double doors meant it was quiet. ^^ But I could hear all the traffic through the window. Given how carefully the hotel is designed, why didn't they install double-glazed windows or take other noise-reduction measures? I've been to over 320 hotels since the COVID-19 pandemic, staying 520 nights, and I've often disappointed guests. I've been to 17 hotels and 22 nights in Kyoto over the past three months, and I think the minimum room rate is on the low side. This hotel really made me realize how many loud cars there are in Kyoto, even late at night.

The location is quite close to JR Nijo Station, within walking distance, and there are convenience stores and supermarkets such as Lawson and LIFE nearby, making it convenient for daily life. Housekeeping service is provided once every three days for consecutive stays. If you need bed linens changed during this period, you will need to apply for a fee. (You can leave garbage bags, bath towels, and hand towels outside the door; they will be replaced free of charge. However, if you leave your yukata outside the door, it will be collected and not replaced.) There is a large public bath on the first floor. Men enter with their room key, while women exchange their keys for a red access card at the counter. If you have long hair, there are supplies outside the door; you can take them and tie your hair up. First, place your slippers in the shoe cabinet, clip them with a clip, and take the matching number card (to retrieve the correct slippers when leaving) and put them in the basket. Remove your yukata in the changing area, put your clothes, room key, and watch in the locker, and take the key to lock it. After washing your hair and taking a shower in the shower area, you can enter the large public bath. The hairdryer in the bath is not very powerful; it is recommended to use it briefly and then return to your room to dry off. There is a water dispenser, because the water in the bath is quite hot, so you must drink water after getting out of the tub.
