Affordable cottage accommodation in Izu♪ We stayed in a cottage with an indoor hot spring bath with our two dogs (^-^) Although old, the room was clean!! We were able to use the old tennis court as a dog run, so we had a great time with our dogs⭐⭐⭐ The large public bath in the main building was also immaculately cleaned, and we enjoyed it very much♪ The alcohol in the shop was also reasonably priced, which was great (lol) During breakfast in the restaurant, two black cats (probably strays?) were relaxing outside, which was very comforting for an animal lover♪ The hot spring quality was also great!! I would definitely stay at this inn again with my dogs...

The pros are that the facilities are ok, the cottage was nice, spacious and clean for a night’s stay. However, the onsen was very basic, and had two temperatures, hot and scalding hot. That’s actually fine because some onsens are like that, it’s just a preference thing. The subpar rating stems from the rude and quite obviously foreigner unfriendly service that the place provides. The moment they saw that we had foreigners resident cards, one of the ladies at the counter gave us the snub and refused to attend to us. A nice uncle helped us out instead and he was actually quite nice. Then on checkout day we bumped into two American ladies who were refused shuttle rides to the station (though on the website it stated everyone who was living on the premises could use the service). They only gave them rides after we spoke to the staff in Japanese. All in all the rooms were nice, but if you’re a foreigner, I would suggest not coming here to stay.

I apologize for writing this post even though I was unable to stay there. I had originally planned to stay overnight last night, but the heavy snow unexpectedly caused road closures, so I called the day before to say, "I'm planning to go, but I'm worried about the traffic," and my fears were confirmed! First of all, there's no way to get to East Izu by car, and even on the east coast, there are chain restrictions in place to get from Atami to Ito. Amidst this, R'nessa Akazawa called me and said, "The roads from where you live (western Shizuoka Prefecture) are closed, and the illuminations at Izu Granpal Park that you ordered as a set with the accommodation are closed due to the snow." They said, "We're very sorry, but would you like us to cancel your reservation? We'll handle all the paperwork for you." I was forced to cancel, and I was so relieved by the wonderful response from the accommodation staff, who took the time to call me and express their concern. So, even though I wasn't able to stay there, I decided to write this post. If I visit East Izu again, I would definitely stay here again.
