My stay at the Raffles was extremely disappointing. Upon arrival, we were briefly escorted to our suite, but the staff member simply said, "This is the room," and then disappeared. No explanation, no welcome, no introduction. Our luggage was also forgotten. The room temperature was a serious problem. The air conditioning didn't work at all, so the room was freezing cold all day, and we were freezing! Only after repeated complaints and pressure did it get a little warmer—however, the problem was never fully resolved. The television was completely unacceptable. Videos constantly froze, the screen switched off randomly, and about 80% of the time, the remote control didn't respond at all. When it did respond, the delay was extremely long. Watching television was virtually impossible. The volume changed randomly, and there was neither Chromecast nor easy access to Spotify or YouTube—something that is standard in many hotels these days. The cleanliness throughout the hotel left much to be desired. Hallways and rooms had visible dirt, crumbs, dust, and threads. Some mirrors clearly hadn't been cleaned in a long time. Our request for room cleaning was only addressed after more than three hours. The concierge service was frustrating and unhelpful. Instead of providing adequate support, we were repeatedly told to handle things ourselves (e.g., we were told to go to the spa to get answers to our questions, instead of them doing it for us). Phone calls went unanswered, and later an excuse was offered. The New Year's Eve music was chaotic and outdated—more like a circus or an old American jazz bar than elegant, modern, or stylish. There was no house music. The atmosphere was stressful: waiters were literally running around, creating a hectic and unpleasant environment. The appetizers were good, but the rest of the food ranged from average to uninspired and was certainly not worth the price. There was no introduction or explanation at the spa. The small hot tub had sand or dirt covering about 20% of its surface—and this happened two days in a row, which is completely unacceptable. Furthermore, the hot tub was occupied by children for about two hours, who screamed loudly and behaved very disruptively. This made it impossible to use the pool or enjoy the spa. It would be helpful to establish clearer rules, such as age restrictions (e.g., 16+) or defined time slots for children, as is common practice in many upscale hotels. Breakfast was poorly managed. We arrived just five minutes before closing time and were immediately pressured. The staff insisted that the buffet was closing, and we had to place our orders for eggs and drinks while standing. Lunch was one of the worst experiences of our stay. We had to wait 1 hour and 30 minutes before we could eat. The first dishes arrived cold. On the second attempt, the same food was only reheated—no longer medium-rare, extremely dry, and still cold—and had to be sent back. The third attempt was finally freshly prepared, but still cold and overcooked. At this point, we simply ate because it was already very late. Although the dish was removed from the bill, there was little understanding or genuine interest shown. What was particularly unpleasant was that the repeated problems throughout our stay created an atmosphere in which we felt increasingly uncomfortable voicing our concerns—as if we were expected to silently accept standards that were clearly not commensurate with the price. This is not a minor oversight; it is a clear management failure.
