It took me some time to decide whether to share this experience and I feel it’s important to be honest. We stayed one night at this hotel by Lake Como in September 2025. Breakfast was fine the ladies serving were very kind and the receptionist was friendly. The location is good for walking into town. Unfortunately everything else was unacceptable. In the days and hours before our arrival we were contacted several times and repeatedly asked to confirm that we would arrive on time as the reception would otherwise be closed. We found this insistence rather stressful especially after a long journey. We checked in late afternoon after a long drive and were just passing through with another long trip ahead the next morning. The room we were given on the ground floor smelled unbearably damp and musty. We were told to “just turn on the AC” but even after hours this did not help. Black mold was clearly visible on the ceilings and in the bathroom and there were insects in the room. It felt like a backup room that should not be rented out at all. We did not complain that night because we were completely exhausted and there was nobody at reception when we returned from dinner. However the room was absolutely unacceptable and in my opinion a health risk. Sleeping under only a thin sheet felt like being in a wet basement. The pool did not look clean either. After leaving I realized that my bracelet was missing. We contacted the hotel about one hour after departure and were told they would inform us if it was found. Unfortunately we never heard back. Overall mold stench insects unhealthy conditions and far too expensive. I honestly don’t understand how such a room can even be offered to guests.
