The price was reasonable, the food was acceptable, the room itself was spacious, and the location is convenient. Until now, we had used this hotel quite often and generally had positive experiences.Unfortunately, during this stay we experienced two serious situations that completely overshadowed all of these positives. First, when we entered the hotel bar at around 4:00 PM on January 11th, we were hit by an extremely strong, throat-irritating smell, similar to pepper spray. It immediately caused us to start coughing. We reported this to the bartender and were told that chemicals were being used to clean the pipes and that the smell would disappear shortly. Carrying out such chemical cleaning in the middle of the day, while guests are present, is highly inappropriate and potentially harmful. The second issue concerned our room. Upon check-in, we noticed that it was very cold. Before leaving the hotel in the evening, we informed the reception and clearly asked for the issue to be resolved before our return after midnight. We also agreed to staff entering the room if needed. We were assured that the problem would be fixed or that a heater would be placed in the room. Unfortunately, when we returned at around 1:00 AM, nothing had been done. The room was still cold and there was no heater. After going back to reception, we were offered a room change in the middle of the night. This was extremely difficult, especially as I am a disabled person recovering from surgery and have limited mobility. However, we had no choice but to move all our belongings to another room at 1:00 AM. Only then was a heater provided due to the low temperature. Despite the fair price, decent food and good location, the way these situations were handled means that we will most likely avoid this hotel in the future — which is particularly disappointing, given that we had been regular guests until now.
