The most magical, incredible experience. We enjoyed 3 nights on our honeymoon and it was worth every penny. The lodge is beautiful and were treated like Royalty during our time, being fed constantly and any empty glasses were quickly refilled! Elliot was our personal attendant and he was fantastic - we shared drinks with him in the evenings and learnt that he (and some of the other staff such as the Chef) had been there for over 20+ years, which I think speaks volumes about the settup at Lion Sands. Our drives were nothing short of spectacular - we saw the Big 5 in our first morning! Our Ranger was Dumi with tracker Andreis - they were both went above and beyond to make sure we all had a great time- Andreis decided on one occasion to set off on foot into the bush with nothing but a stick to track down a Lion pride. The vehicles accommodate 6 people and are totally open. They are not limited to roads and the Rangers will drive wherever they need to track animals. This said, they are careful that there is never more than 2 vehicles around an animal. The Rangers communicate with one another, but we rarely saw other vehicles on our game drive as there are only a handful of vehicles which cover the Private Reserve. What an experience! It wasnt cheap but as I say, worth every single penny. Thank you all!

Lion Sands River Lodge is a once in a lifetime kind of place although we’ve already decided we are going to return. The lodge itself is absolutely beautiful and the room was luxurious. But The staff is what really makes this place shine! Our guide Themba picked us up at the airport and was with us on every game drive. He is so knowledgeable and was able to answer every question we threw at him. Jabu was our tracker. He was so excellent at helping us find these amazing animals in the wild. I still don’t know how he did it but he was able to spot a pack of cheetahs from at least 500 yards away with his bare eyes. That blew us away! These two were truly great and we had a blast spending our drives with them. The staff at the lodge was exceptional. They were always anticipating our every need. Our housekeeper Kyrula was phenomenal. Our room was always spotless and she would leave little personalized notes for us at turn down service. Elliot our Butler was such a legend. I really can’t say enough about him. He got to know us so quickly and anticipated our every need. He was so warm and friendly and truly made our experience so much better. Him and Darren also went above and beyond in setting up a surprise private fire lit dinner for our anniversary. It was so thoughtful and really meant the world to us. I can’t name all of the people who we interacted with but each person was amazing and made us feel like family. Please go experience this for yourself!!

We had an absolutely magical experience at Lion Sands River Lodge! The setting is gorgeous, the hospitality out of this world, the rooms amazing, and the food is incredible. It has been our dream to go on a safari and the staff at Lion Sands gave us the trip of a lifetime. We want to give a shout out to our butler, Jeffrey, who was always there for us, and to "X-Man," for his outstanding wine recommendations. And, a very, very special shout out to Simon, our guide, and Joyce, our tracker. On a safari trip, one could have a great setting, food, etc, but it doesn't mean anything unless the guide and tracker are first rate. Well, Simon and Joyce took our Lion Sands experience to another level. Simon was incredibly knowledgeable, and I think Joyce has super human sight! It is people like them who make safaris a true unforgettable experience. Thank you to the entire staff!
