Having been an F&B Manager and a former employee of So Hotels, I usually have a pretty sharp eye for how a place is run. My expectations were high for my wife’s 50th birthday stay, and while the hotel itself was brilliant, there was one major kicker that really let the side down. The Good Stuff I can’t fault the hospitality. Check-in was genuinely friendly, and they really went the extra mile to make us feel like VIPs for the 50th. We arrived to find a bottle of wine, a treat plate, luxury chocolates, and even Valentine’s party crackers in the room. It was a class touch. From an F&B perspective, the food was a standout—both dinner and breakfast were excellent, and the staff across the board were welcoming and professional. The Spa Situation This is where it fell short for me. I was baffled to find out that the spa isn’t included for residents. Having to pay €20 per person for a strictly timed one-hour slot felt like a bit of a rip-off. I specifically chose this hotel because I needed the spa time for physical healing, but I wasn't going to keep shelling out that kind of money for multiple sessions at that price. The Facilities While the saunas and jacuzzi were a perfect, proper hot temperature, the rest of the experience was a bit hit and miss: • Maintenance: The steam room had loose, chipped tiles. It’s a genuine injury hazard with sharp edges that needs sorting immediately. • Broken Features: The ice experience was out of order. • Hygiene: I actually had to wash away the suds from the previous people in the foot spa before I could even use it. • Privacy: There were young girls in there taking photos and uploading them to social media. It’s hard to relax when you’re worried about being in the background of someone’s "content". Overall It’s a really good hotel, but they’ve got the spa pricing all wrong. If they want to maximise guest satisfaction, they need to change the structure—maybe a small flat fee for the stay or just including it in the room rate. For a 4-star experience, being "metered" by the hour for a birthday treat just doesn’t sit right.
