Manila Lotus Hotel

The hotel stay itself was okay, but the experience at Cilantro restaurant was far below expectations. Our room cost 2,000 pesos, yet we were charged 965 pesos just to reheat our leftovers—nearly half the price of the room. The 965-peso charge was to reheat a meager breakdown of food: half a serving of rice, less than a normal serving of sisig, some leftover chicken, and a 1/4 portion of tortang talong. Most importantly, we were never informed of this price beforehand. Had we known, we never would have agreed to it. To put the pricing in perspective, the reheating charge for the sisig was 360 pesos, when a fresh order on their menu is only 385 pesos. It is completely illogical to charge nearly the price of a fresh meal just to for a leftover portion that is 2 days old. To make matters worse, the service was a complete failure: 7:28 PM: The reheated food was delivered (still in its original plastic packaging). We requested for the plate, spoon, and fork. 7:40 PM: We requested the receipt. 8:05 PM: Plates and utensils finally arrived—35 minutes after the food. 8:43 PM: As of this writing, the receipt has still not been delivered to our room. By the time we finally had a fork and plate to eat with, the food was already COLD. We essentially paid a 965-peso reheating charge for nothing. When we complained, the staff claimed the rate was part of a "memo" from the hotel manager. However, a private memo does not excuse the lack of price disclosure, which is a basic consumer right. Furthermore, when I asked for the manager’s contact details, I was told they were off-duty and was given an email address. I tried to send a formal complaint, but Google flagged the email as non-existent. This is a deliberate attempt to mislead guests and avoid accountability. No refund or discount was offered despite the extreme delay and the poor execution of service. Avoid this restaurant and hotel unless you want to be overcharged for cold food and given the run-around by staff.

The room was cramped and outdated. The bed was uncomfortable and we only had 1 blanket to sleep under. The AC sounded like a jet engine. There was a window but it looked out onto a wall. When we asked reception why the room looked so different to the pictures on the website, we were told that those pictures were used for 'advertising purposes' and were not real. This hotel was one of the worst I've ever stayed in.

Worst hotel I stayed at in the Philippines. Decent breakfast but very outdated and small room.
