Marina Byblos Hotel

Very nice place with marina view and helpful staff especially the manager Mr. Atta, although the hotel is under renovation but every thing is fine except that there is no hot water, just a little bit warm water

We stayed at this hotel at the end of December. It was the worst hotel we've ever stayed in. We couldn't find a single redeeming feature. For those with low standards and no specific expectations, this hotel is a welcome option. Upon arrival, we entered through the staff entrance, not the main one, where there was a stepladder with a worker repairing something. The hotel didn't notify the tour operator that they were undergoing renovations. The noise from the renovations was clearly audible in the cafeteria during breakfast and lunch. Renovations are also underway on the first and second floors. The hotel has two elevators, both very slow, requiring 5-10 minute waits. The furniture in the rooms is outdated, scratched, and peeling. The towels are old. There's nowhere to dry clothes, as there are no balconies. Also, to properly shower and wash in hot water, you'll have to pester the receptionists about your lack of hot water. I called the housing representative to my room several times, and they said I'd have to wait a few minutes for the hot water to come on, but it never did. The hotel breakfasts are very poor. The same thing every day. Those who write in reviews that the breakfasts are good and varied have never experienced such a good and varied breakfast. There's a pool on the rooftop, but it's impossible to use it because the air conditioners are so noisy. And most interestingly, the hotel has a nightclub where prostitutes are invited to persistently follow hotel guests and offer their services. When I went to the reception desk to ask why they had prostitutes following guests around the hotel, they pretended not to know what I was talking about, pulled me aside so no one could hear our conversation, and offered me a free lunch as an apology. The hotel is rated at 2 stars at most.

This hotel is the worst "4 star" I've ever been too. There are too many examples of substandard service and poor room facilities to list! Firstly the hotel is being renovated, with a makeshift reception area at the entrance and no space in the hotel for the concierge staff who stand on the outside of the hotel. There is poor or no response to their WhatsApp number to confirm our booking, at which stage they should've informed us of the renovations to expect! The worst was not having hot water... Yes, the room had luke warm and sometimes cold water coming out of the taps! We couldn't shower in comfort! The bathroom is so tiny that the floor towel jams under the door all the time when opening and closing the door. The bathroom has one hand towel for both guests, and the bathroom towels are brown and not matching the single white hand towel. One has to stand in the bathtub to shower, using flimsy plastic curtains. The tile grouting had black grime, which made it feel and look for unhygienic and filthy. There is no plug socket for shavers and electric toothbrush charging in the bathroom. And when I asked for a travel adapter to plug my toothbrush in the bedroom, the reception desk said it's not part of their service but they will help this time! The extractor fan in the bathroom doesnt work, so you get steamed up in the bathroom! The toilet flush buttons are old... in fact most of the fittings and fixtures are old. The TV is an old Sony TV with an old remote control whose buttons are sticky with grime and don't work properly! The room has no heating air-conditioning, only freezing cold (yes, even during winter). The aircon buttons on the wall don't work. There aren't any blankets in the cupboard, and I ended up getting sick from the low temperature in the room! The room has a weird "centralised control station" whcih is placed on the one side of the bed. This controls the aircon, lights throughout the room (even the one across your fellow guest, meaning one has to control the bedside light for the other person!). It also has buttons to control the desk lamp which DOES NOT turn off (yes, you sleep with the light on, unless you unplug it from its socket). There are NO buttons on the desk lamp and the bedside lamps. Everything is controlled by this central station. The bedside lamp was loose and falling off. There is no sweetener and decaf coffee in the rooms... not even a biscuit for a "4 star" hotel. Breakfast was mediocre. There isn't plain yoghurt, tea isn't served with a saucer, the range of food was poor. The omelettes/eggs are cooked outdoors so you have to go outside to fetch them to bring to your table if you sit inside. I reported some of these items to the reception desk, and they didnt really resolve the matters the next day. The water was STILL cold and they still had only one hand towel. I couldn't believe that this was a "4 star" hotel. It was worse than the 3 star I stayed in at Downtown Dubai. I feel I need a discount, because having cold bathwater for my stay is pathetic for a 4 star hotel!
