Maritim Hotel Bad Salzuflen

The hotel is extremely outdated: the first room wasn't even worth two stars in my opinion! The carpet was filthy; it was freezing cold and the heating was completely inadequate (I'm usually never cold); the shower water wouldn't drain – showering in the bathtub is awful, in my opinion; the sink barely came up to my knee (it was very low); there was no coffee machine, unlike my neighbors with the same booking/price; everything was really old and run-down. After complaining several times about the standing water in the bathtub, I got a better room, which was also old, but significantly better equipped. I would generally advise against having carpet in the room if the stains aren't regularly and thoroughly cleaned – it's simply disgusting. We also used the sauna and swimming pool: the atmosphere wasn't relaxing and it wasn't appealing at all. The area could be much nicer. Unfortunately, the food didn't agree with me (3 breakfasts, 3 dinner buffets). Much of it was overcooked or tasted off (the salad and raw vegetables had definitely seen better days). At breakfast, the cold cuts, cheese, and spreads were left uncovered and already quite dried out on the buffet from 6:30 a.m. onwards. Breakfast offered little variety, with the exact same selection every day. The service at the hotel reception was consistently very friendly and customer-oriented. Unfortunately, the waiters were inattentive and unmotivated, and one man, Mr. A. S., was extremely unfriendly and rude. Some of the waiters didn't even greet guests or only asked about drinks once and didn't return, even when glasses were empty.

It was a very pleasant stay. We really liked the atmosphere. The family room was great. …

Occupancy was low in January, so the kitchen was only open for breakfast. We were informed of this shortly before our arrival.
