We love it here- a calm break. It isn't high end so feels comfortable Breakfast could be better....more eggs....the scrambled egg they had were dreadful and couldn't see any other option.

Spa Day - I have been to Hanbury Manor a few times for spa days over the years. I am sad to say this last experience wasn't very good. The price of a spa day is expensive for what you get £75 for spa use and a two course lunch which didn't even include a drink. Upon arrival there was a mix up and my partner did not realise he had to pay extra for the massages. This was not once communicated on email. My locker did not work and twice I had to walk back to reception, and the one allocated actually had someone else's things in it. Not exactly a relaxing start. The spa itself is ok, nothing special. I would expect for the price the mould should be cleaned off the window and vents and that someone would at least walk around a couple of times in the day to clear away cups/things left by others - the place looked like an untidy mess by 3pm. People kept walking around right near the swimming area in trainers and it just didn't feel very relaxing and secluded. You have a day here apparently but in the morning the pool is closed for aqua, then from 3.45pm kids arrived and there was swimming lessons and lots of noise. If you are staying at the hotel then it is a nice bonus, but there are better spas in the area which are better value if you are coming just for the day. The lunch was mediocre, the starter (Chicken wings) were really unappetising, barely any meat, and the sauce was too hot. Main was ok, dessert (sticky toffee pudding) was clearly not home made. Then lastly the treatments, while mine was fine. My partner said he had the worst massage he had ever experienced. The ladies hands were dry, he felt like she did not really want to touch him and as we were the last of the day she could not be bothered. The fact this was over £60 was a joke. I plan to email regarding our experience but unable to find a contact email. My partner already feeling insecure felt worse after that. As a masseuse you should be fine with massaging anyone. In conclusion - I would not recommend for a spa day, but fine if you are staying at the hotel. It has certainly gone down hill and up in price i would be reluctant to return.
