We stayed at the Marsden in October 2025. It's professional photos are advertised and misleading. Firstly the Marsden is not a hotel on its own, it is a "hotel" within the sofitel. We were mean't to stay in a deluxe king room with a marina view, a 42m2 room. However, we were placed in a similar looking room/set up, although tidy but smaller. We were told someone was already staying in the room we had paid for, and that grouting work was being done in another one of the rooms that we had booked. We basically received less than what we had paid for. On top of this we paid $50 for parking and were allocated a very dodgy parking space, the staff member guided us into it as though it was his regular parking spot as it was away from the rest of the hotel guests. The marina view is beautiful however the balcony is only a foot long and covered with bird poop. We left disappointed after our stay at the Marsden!

Disappointing Stay at Marsden Viaduct — Not the Standard Expected I recently stayed at the Marsden Viaduct and unfortunately had an experience far below the standard I would expect from a Marsden property. When the room became uncomfortably warm and the air conditioning didn’t work, I called the customer service helpline for assistance. Instead of offering a solution or any genuine effort to help, I was simply told that “if it’s too warm, just open the balcony door.” This is absolutely not the level of service you would expect from a property positioned at this price point, nor anywhere close to brands like Sofitel, where customer comfort and professionalism are taken seriously. My interaction with Kevin on the phone was particularly disappointing. His tone felt dismissive and unhelpful, and he ultimately told me there was nothing he could do if the aircon wasn’t working. No alternative room, no maintenance check, no workaround — nothing. Overall, a very poor customer service experience that really took away from what should have been an enjoyable stay. I genuinely hope management takes this feedback seriously and improves both their service training and responsiveness to guest issues.
